The next meeting of the Friends of Mirfield Library will be held at the library at 6:30pm on Monday 25 January 2016.
The focus of the Friends of Mirfield Library is changing rapidly and with this will develop some interesting and specialised opportunities for people to volunteer to help the Friends, e.g. if you have time to spare, have IT skills, or graphic design skills or would be interested working with the media.
At the end of 2015 The Friends of Mirfield Library achieved the required result – the Mirfeld Library Service was secured and retained its Town Library & Information Centre status. However, that’s only half the required result, the future of the library building is still unknown. Following the success of part one of their campaign, the Friends of Mirfield Library made it clear that their campaign would be re-launched in Jan 2016, the intention being to secure the building for Mirfield.
Friends are working closely with Library staff to plan for the future, e.g:- 6th Feb is National Libraries Day. In conjunction with the Huddersfield Literature Festival, Mirfield Library has developed activities for the whole month : ‘February: A month to Love Your Library’.
All are welcome. Bring your ideas and suggestions for the next stage of what’s becoming an exciting journey!
